Atlanta-area animal shelters are offering free felines and fidos on Black Friday to find them new homes.
LifeLine Animal Project’s Fulton and DeKalb County shelters is waiving adoption fees from Friday until Monday. The nonprofit’s three animal shelters are all full due to higher intake and fewer adoptions, according to a press release.
“Our Black Friday Free Adoption Bonanza is our most successful adoption event of the year,” Karen Kirsch, the organization’s spokeswoman, said. She added that the shelters took in 1,379 animals October.
The shelters, located at 860 Marietta Boulevard in Atlanta, 3180 Presidential Drive in Atlanta and 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Chamblee, used to hold the in-person event each year. In 2019, the organization saw 472 adoptions, a record for LifeLine Animal Project. The event was virtual last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All adopted pets will also be spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated at no additional charge.
The shelters are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Visit lifelineanimal.org/adopt for more information.
