Emory Hillandale commemorates 15 years as a community hospital
We are proud and honored to recognize Emory Hillandale Hospital (EHH) for 15 years of providing vital health care to the community. Many of you may not be familiar with the decades long community quest to establish a hospital in the Stonecrest/Lithonia area. DeKalb Medical at Hillandale was truly born from community determination to establish a facility so South DeKalb residents would not have to travel so far for health care. In 1993, ground was broken on the project and on July 18, 2005, DeKalb Medical at Hillandale opened its doors. By noon on the first day, the Emergency Department had seen 23 patients.
Today, the same emergency department sees over 65,000 patients a year. The amount of growth and development EHH has experienced in 15 years is tremendous. EHH boosts exceptional leadership, providers and staff who foster a strong sense of family based on collaboration, teamwork and respect.
I feel confident we will continue to be an important part of the Hillandale community for another 15 years and beyond.
To commemorate the anniversary, leaders all around DeKalb County sent their congratulations and encouragement so that our team could feel the community’s support. We appreciate all of the thoughtful comments and hope you will too. In addition to the slideshow, we celebrated the 15th Anniversary at EHH with a group photo (above) and frozen treats for the staff.
The Champion newspaper featured Emory Hillandale in a very comprehensive online article at http://thechampionnewspaper.com/news/local/emory-hillandale-celebrates-anniversary/
The print version will be out Thursday.
As part of the celebration last Friday, 10,000 cloth masks were distributed to our community partners to help protect their members. We will showcase more photos from that event in edigest this Friday.
Finally, Senator Tonya Anderson presented a proclamation from the state recognizing EHH’s valuable contributions to the community the past 15 years.
In closing, I want to thank our staff, providers, leaders and community partners for all of your endless support and dedication to premier health care in South DeKalb.
