About DCJTC and the DeKalb County Magistrate Court Misdemeanor Mental Health Court:

DeKalb County, Georgia, is fortunate to have the longest running mental health court in Georgia. The Misdemeanor Mental Health Court has a mission to “decriminalize mentally ill offenders by offering treatment instead of incarceration” and has been committed to its mission since 2001. The DeKalb Criminal Justice Treatment Coalition, Inc. (DCJTC) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, philanthropic arm and Advisory Council to the MMHC. The DCJTC is comprised of mental health care professionals such as psychiatrists, attorneys, treatment providers, National Alliance on Mental Illness representatives and family members of those challenged with mental illness, who work on behalf of the MMHC to ensure best practices that comply with codified mental health court standards.
